I like to share the Favorite Poem Project with teachers and students. We Real Cool gets me everytime. I've never had a chance to recreate this project with a group of students but I would imagine it could be very engaging. A Flip camera or the…

Hi Sheri, After a brief peek at each of your sites, I think that you can give yourself more credit as an expert technology user! It seems like you have a good mix of new tools and ideas that you share with your students and, in your Pause2Play…

Troy Hicks commented on Janet's blog post 'Wikis or Google docs?'
Hi Janet, I like the idea of a hybrid approach that you propose here. Having students create a profile page on a shared wiki space and then making links to their published Google Docs would allow for the best of both worlds. You, as teacher, would…

Quick Questions

After reading the book The Digital Writing Workshop, I was wondering what makes a teacher choose to incorporate blogs into the classroom versus wikis? Is it about personal choice or do teachers actual take the time to see what the students need call for? Either way of the wiki or the blog, why do the teachers make the choice for one or the other?

Thinking about Wikis with Mrs. V.

One of our DWW Ning members, Amanda Villagomez, and I have been having some conversations about how best to frame her digital writing workshop. Through a series of emails, we discussed some ideas, and she has given me permission to cross post this collaborative response from her blog. Thanks, Amanda, for helping me think through some of the reasons why and how I use wikis to teach… Continue

Bill Gaskins' Voice Thread on the Digital Writing Workshop

As more and more of you are integrating the book into professional development experiences and teacher education courses, I continue to be amazed by what emerges. Today, while checking my Google Alerts on "digital writing workshop," I cam across Bill Gaskin's Voice Thread that he will be using to foster discussion in his class for Horry County Schools.…
